I am reassembling a Volvo Penta V8, 5.0 GL-J series 2008 built with a Holly carb. I need to put back the manifold and have the following questions. a. There are 2 parts on the manifold that require an RTV sealant as that is what I saw when I pulled it out. Do you also need to put ANY sealant at ANY part of the inlet manifold gaskets? b. What are the torque specs for the Engine and sequence? c. Once it's all set. How would you set up timing without a timing light? I have the Crank lined up to the marker on the block as provided by the factory. DO you just line up the DIstt rotor to match cylinder 1? Finally, I did a compression test on my Engine after flushing it with diesel a few times (Long story but it went partially under in seawater for a few hours and I managed to open the plugs, inlet manifold and hand crank it with no issues). I initially got 75 but then it changed to 150 which I feel may be due to valves sitting properly, but then the pressure went up to 220 in nearly all cylinders. Isn't that too high even though it's a cold crank? Many thanks in advance.
