I bought a 2007 Four Winns last summer and it ran fine. Winterized it and removed battery for storage. Just hooked up the fully charged battery this weekend. Out-drive goes up and down from button on control arm. But no power to ignition or dash. I checked the fuses under the dash and they seem to be ok. I checked the fuses in box on top of starboard side of motor and they seem to be ok.
It seems strange that the lower unit works but the power stops after that. Is there a reset button on the engine someplace. Or?
Thank you, Gary

Did you check your kill switch at your control arm? I know if that is pulled, it will kill all the power you are talking about.

Re-seat the clip on the kill switch which is located just under the throttle. The clip keeps the kill switch from making contact and can appear to be in place, but it's not properly seated. Don't ask me how I know.

Thank you for those two good suggestions. I have pressed the kill switch with no success. However, I did find a small black box behind the battery that has a button on the side, which I assume is a reset switch. Pressed it several times also, nothing! Anyone with an idea of what that relay box contains?
Thanks.

Probably bad grounds on the battery - they can be tight but make sure they're clean too with a wire brush (common prob), or engine harness loose, give it a wiggle with the key on, or use a test light on that breaker with the reset button, there should be one on the engine too. Your power to the dash comes from the engine harness, the trim has it's own power wires, and the killswitch only kills spark - it would still turn over.

99% of the time it's loose or corroded battery connections - I did just come across a bad battery selector switch, which a test light would tell you its good or bad.

did you miss a pos or ground wire on the battery? Happens pretty often.

I had ignition problems with my 2003 GXi-E engines which seemed to be ignition relay related, I found a Volvo Service bulletin that said the fuse/relay box could become faulty from engine vibration and to replace it with a new box with vibration isoloators. I have not had the same problem since I replaced the box. Google "volvo penta bulletin p-37-2-2" to pull the bulletin up and check to see if your GXi engine is affected. I'd paste the bulletin link myself but the link never seems to work.

Yours may be different, but I have a 2002 V-P 5.0L GXiB. The kill switch kills all power to the helm, except the trim function on the throttle. The engine does not turn over. I know this for a fact.
