The specifics: 1995 volvo penta I/O 5 liter. With a mech fuel pump and 2 barrel carb. Took boat out on the lake and ran 3/4 of a tank of fuel through it ( 3/4 full from last year topped off with new gas this spring... Stored in heated shed.. - forgot to top up last fall :-( ). Ran fine for the first 2 days. Filled up with gas ag marina and pulled one skier. When idled down, the boat spuddered and died... Couldn't resart. Tried taking filter off and running straight from new slip tank to rule out gas. Got it started after pumping 15 times but it would only run if throttle was more than 1/4 open. Then it would smoke and run rough. At open throttle would run better but still smoke. Fuel does periodically drip through the vent??? Can keep running if I play with the throttle. Any ideas? Plugged or fouled carb? How easy is a 2 barrel carb to remove and repair with no shop and limited tools at the lake?
