I have a Volvo Penta 5.0Gi 2001 model, fitted 4 years ago in my Chris Craft Lancer 23. The boat has run normally during the summer but since last week I get far less power and can't get the engine to run at more power than 3700 rpm before it stall if I put on mor gas. Normally it will go to 4250 rpm and 33 knots but now I only get to 3700 and the speed is a mere 23knot (usually 27.5). It starts up great and runs on neutral with no loss of rpms (can probably run up to 4800+)
I have read numerous threads about fuel pump problems and corrosion etc but before I start that disassembly are there any other means of finding possible problems?
Distributor ?
Clogged fuel filter?
Water in air filter?
