[FONT=Raleway, sans-serif]I just purchased a 1998 Chris Craft Concept Cuddy, it states on the cover of the engine 5.7 gsi Volvo Penta. I am a bit confused on whom is the manufacturer of the eninge? OMC or Ford.
My boat stalled right out of the dock the other day. When I purchased the boat I was told the engine was fine and was a rebuilt. The meter states 224 hrs on it. When starting it turns over but then dies out. I did full up on fuel the last time out and was thinking I might have been running low on fuel. The full up might of caused the sediment to kick up from the bottom of the tank. I took on about 30 gallons of fuel after doing research my fuel capacity of the tank is about 35 gallons from research on the web. I have no way of knowing what the capacity of my tank was so I might of been running on fumes.
I took the fuel filter off, and poured the gas in the jar fuel looks good but there was a lot of sediment on the bottom of the jar. The boat ran fine for a few weeks after initial purchase so I am thinking the fuel injectors are clogged. I am looking for the correct manual for this engine type. My next course of action is to purchase a new filter and prime it with clean gas and see what happens. Any suggestions will help.
Thanks
Len

Welcome to iBoats . . . :welcome:

The engine would be a GM 5.7. (Ford provided 5.8 base engines, but no longer) Most of the engines are GM, and then OMC, Volvo-Penta, Mercruiser add their 'stuff', which is primarily fuel, ignition, cooling, and exhaust systems.

You will need the manual from Volvo Penta, as the issues will tend to be with all the stuff that they integrated into the base engine.

The fuel capacity of the tank will be on a certification label near where the sender and fittings are located.

if your fuel filter had sediment, it came from your tank

if you re-used your filter, you contaminated the clean side of your system. Never re-use filters

start with cleaning your tank and pulling your injectors and sending them in for cleaning.
