Hi There,

On Aug 5 an oil hose disconnected and caused a piston to break. The engine was rebuilt by the certified VP mechanics and on testing continues to go into Safe mode or won't go any faster than 2500 rpm.

Everything that could be changed has been including the computer module being sent to VP for testing. Distributor, all sensors and guages have been replaced.

Can anyone help?

We did have a marine SATCOM which is not connected. Would this make any difference.

We would like to fix this before haulout

When an engine goes into safe mode, the reason for it doing that will show up on the scan tool.
What does the certified mechanic say?
If somebody was replacing sensors without trouble shooting first, it’s possible a good sensor was taken out and a bad brand new sensor was installed.

If nothing is showing up on the scan tool than it would be a good idea to check fuel pressure @2500 rpm with the engine under load. Low fuel pressure can mimic safe mode.
