Being a newbie, I suppose I should've asked only one question in my first post in the hope of getting an answer. Here it goes: Boat is a 1997 Cobalt 252 with a Volvo Penta 7.4GIPLKDCE (have M, T and OD serial nrs but not sure which one to post). Pulled boat out of the lake to test new bunk settings on trailer. Inspected stern drive and found various problems.
The Trim Sending Unit has a black wire which is severly frayed from rubbing on housing. Wire has the appearance of a co-axial cable. Does this require replacing the complete Trim Sending Unit? What is procedure? The wire disappears somewhere into/through the transom housing. Or is there a connector, not readily visible? The SELOC Vovo Penta reapir manual is not clear on how to replace ... They talk about some "special" tool that is needed ...
What else should I consider replacing while in there? Gimbal lube nipple? Gimball bearing? Hoses? Bellows?
Thank you!
