Okay, so I am looking at a 2000 Cobalt with a Volvo Penta 7.4GSIPEFS engine (s/n Engine 4110199747 and Out Drive 4112061762).
This is the first time I have come across a 7.4GSI version. I was surprised to learn that this engine is rated at 405bhp. That puts it in the 8.1GI and GXI category, yet with a displacement of 7.4l. Most 7.4l engines are rated at about 320bhp.
How did VP do this? What's unique about this engine? Does that mean that parts are difficult to come by? Should this engine be avoided?
