Volvo Penta 7.4L Fuel Efficiency (MPG)

I'm looking to pick up a 1996 Cobalt with an original Volvo Penta 7.4L GIDP fuel injected motor. I'm wondering what kind of fuel efficiency it has. How does it compare to a 5.7L motor? Cruising, would it use around that 3 mpg range? Or is this going to be just a terrible gas guzzler?

boat are rated at gallons per hour, not miles per gallon. at wide open throttle you can count on 1 gallon, per every 10 hp. it is all determined by throttle setting, wind, current. too many variable, to be more accurate.
