Hi to all users,

My father and I bought a Luhrs 28 ft and has a twin volvo penta AQ 145 engine and a 280 outdrive.
I don't know allot about this engine so i had some questions.
Is this a reliable engine since it has been made from 1979 to 1985 and is it easy to find parts.
And what about the outdrive.
I don't want to be 90% working and 10% having fun when we done with this boat.

those outdrives are bulletproof! Just get them inspected and serviced. But basically it doesnt make a difference in how good it is, if neglected damage will be there.

Most engine and drive parts are still available, but their parts are expensive.
Example: Eng circulation pump $391 per engine.

If given proper preventive maintenance and care over their lifetime the engines and drives are dependable, but if neglected as those appear, then things could get expensive very fast.

The owner told us that the engines and outdrive were fully overhaul but I have heard that before.
Went to try and start them and both starter selenoid where death, that just the first thing.
Will keep you guys updated
