Volvo penta aq120(a) raw water pump nose bleed

Just bought this boat and still flushing all the gremlins out of the bilge <br />Got a quick question about the raw water pump on my 68 aq120. (Same as aq110 but with dual SDs).<br />I replace the chunk of carbon in the pump with a new impeller and it seems to move water OK, but drains a lot out of the weep holes, almost enough to keep the bilge pump going.<br />Is this normal for these pumps, or is there a shaft seal that is bad to.<br />Or is the impeller supposed to seal water from the shaft since I cant seem to find a part number for a seperate shaft seal.<br />Thanks

the shaft seal is bad. I cant remember if the parts are still avalible to rebuild the pump. most likly you will need a new pump.

There is a repair kit, Part # 875574 $ 93.13<br />It includes a replacement shft and the seal.<br /><br />Or: Seawater pump part # 855578 $ 285.47
