Volvo Penta AQ125A Impeller Blade Direction

Long story short, I took the impeller out and most of the blades were ripped off and I have no idea which direction the blades need to be facing when I install the new impeller into the pump. Anyone know which direction the blades need to be facing when I insert it????

Crank the engine over and look at the impeller shaft and see which way it turns. Then twist the impeller that direction when installing it.

I didn't think of that, but I have the pump, heat exchanger, and all the pipes off the engine, so that won't work. Anyone know off the top of their head?

it spins clockwise, when looking at the front of the engine

You should make sure no rubber ended up in the sea water strainer and backflush the 'radiator' heat exchanger. I found pieces in my heat exchanger when I first bought the boat.

Thanks for that. I actually took the sea water pump, heat exchanger, coolant tank and all the copper pipes off to thoroughly flush them anyway. The boat was ran aground and sand was caked in everything. Was on my way to getting it all back together finally yesterday when 2 bolts snapped off! So now, I have to deal with that before I can get it back together! GRRRR!!

the water pump has a wee arrow on the front of it showing the direction it turns
