Volvo Penta AQ130D w/ 280leg - Farts at 3200rpm cant get on plane.

Took my project out finally. The boat couldnt get on plane and for a minute or so it ran around 3500 sometimes less time. It then coughed and farted and dropped rpm almost to the point of stalling. I throttled back and it ran around 2000 rpm at a cruise with no problem.. The throttled back but but same thing still couldnt hit plane or for that matter get to 4000 rpm.

Thoughts ??

Check dwell, timing, timing advance.

Check fuel pump output.

Check fuel levels in carb bowl.

Replace fuel filter(s), might be one in the fuel inlet on the carb itself.

Well after setting my points correctley running some fuel treatment into the fuel and spraying the carbs down with a good carb cleaner.. I took it out and it definetley ran alot better.. I got it up to plane now and seemed to only burp and fart at 4200 now..

I'm not sure what the boat is suspossed to run at but I hit 25.6 mph at around 3400 rpm

??? IN WINTER i WILL DO A full carb redo..

Looking at my Solex 44 p1 carbs when I push the throttle full down should the butterflies be wide open. Like this --> ( | )

as mine right now wide open are like ( -- ) well not fully closed but damn close.. both carbs are the same..
