Hi all

Newbie-ish here

I bought a 1988-99 Citation 190 cuddy last year as my first boat, It was laid up for around 3 years, here's what I've done so far:
Emptied and cleaned fuel tank, removed floor and replaced with 3/4" marine ply, new carpets, new starter motor, new plugs, leads and fuel hoses, stern drive lift up motor re-magnetised, lift up wiring re-wired, new water pump impellor,
I have check all bellows which seem fine, oil drained from engine and stern, flushed and refilled,

Now to the problem
Engine idles perfectly, timing has been adjusted and is spot on, the engine can idle for over an hour with no problems but when I take it up the river and then try to turn it cuts out whilst turning and/or just under load and is then quite difficult to start again, I think it is running quite rich at the moment and I've noticed when I stop the engine there is air bubbles deep down in the carb, I'm thinking the gasket may be letting by and leaking in air- would this be my problem!!!

I have it now out of the river as the steering is very heavy (it takes both hands to turn) so I can check this out.

welcome aboard

a few things. first, did you dissassemle, clean, and rebuild the carb? you have a carb issue.

regarding your steering, depending on which drive you have on the AQ200, you either have a frozen cable, or most likely the pin that goes into the steering arm for the drive has frozen in place. If that is the case, you will have to remove the arm and link, use a press to press out the pin, then address the corrosion.

why did you replace the floor?
when you removed the floor to replace, did you inspect the stringer and foam? if your floor was rotten, the stringers and transom were probably rotten and the foam is probably water logged. boats rot from the bottom up, the last thing to show issues is the floor.

I have tested the cable which is fine, I disconnected the arm from the rod and all was free, I will check the pin next.
boat floor was beginning to rot due to canopy having big leaks, the foam all looked pretty good on inspection.
Thanks

its not the rigidity, however the water content that I was referring too.

Ok, I have order the carb kit and also coil, contact set, condenser, rotor arm and steering fork bushes. Hopefully will get this sorted within the next 2 weeks and will report back on the running issue.
Another thing I need to check is the tilt sensor, the wiring is there but not connected to anything, the tilt meter reads -8 all the time since getting it working.
