Hi,
I have 97 AD31-p's which have developed a grinding noise at full lock.
During the last service the port below clamp was found loose which toasted the u- joints. I replaced the uni's and inspected the intermediate bearing which had a tide mark on the bearing seal but due to lack of time reassembled. I was hoping the bearing seal would keep the water out but the noise would indicate otherwise.
I believe the shaft is a single bearing type (according to the IPC) and should hopefully slide out the back without having to remove the engine and split the intermediate case.
Is there any tooling available to pull the shaft out? I was trying to remember if the shaft has a thread in the centre for a slide hammer to thread into? Any help would be much appreciated. The Volvo service agents here say the engine has to come out so reluctant to ask them any more questions.....$$$$
Thanks in advance
