I need to change my prop shaft seals on my duo prop.I’ve got the shop manual but it doesn’t really have a procedure for just the seals it has the procedure to tear down the entire lower. My question is can I leave the drive on the boat and pull the bearing carrier change the seals and put it back together or do I need to do the entire tear down and rolling torque back together?

You might get away with it, all depends on why the seal went bad. If it was time and everything is put back together the same, would be worth the try.

If there is play in the shafts then I would tear it down

The manual list tear down because when it comes apart its best to check everything like, preload, back lash, end play, etc

That makes sense but at the same time that’s a lot of hassle just to change a couple seals
