volvo penta dps drive outer prop seal how to replace

I have a volvo penta dps duo prop. just replaced the props. had to go to volvo penta dealer to remove front prop, no problem there but they said the prop seal had a slight bulge outward on it and should be replaced. any idea on how to do this. is it a diy job. been looking on the net but cant seem to find anything. be grateful for any information.

There are free service manuals online that walk through the steps needed to replace just about anything. But just as there is more than one model of a chevy v8, there's more than one model of dps drive. What's your engine or drive's full model number or serial number?

its a dp-s 2.30 prod # 3868163. think its a 2000 modal ser number 41120344730

The VP website doesn't have that serial number on file. How about for the engine? The full model number will have several letters after the numbers, those are the important ones.

had to change the drive, boat is 04 gl-d.. drive i think is 2000.
i have the manual, from don s download and i'm damned if i can see a seal on the exploded views, maybe i'm missing something here.
I saw somewhere on another drive someone removing old seal with a drill then knocking new one in, surely there must be a safer way than that.

found the part 851407.. not sure if you need to remove the thrust ring to remove seal.. thrust ring requires a special tool
