I have a 2020 Volvo Penta 4.3L V6 280HP IO Fwd drive. I can’t find the thermostat. Could someone point me in the right direction?

Thermostat should last decades.

What makes you think you have a thermostat issue?

If you are overheating, check the raw water pump or the heat exchanger

Throttle body needs to come off to access the thermostat housing

Changed the impeller out. Took it out on the water temp got to 167 then it seemed like the thermostat opened it dropped to 165. Temp went up to 171 while having the throttle wide open dropped back down to 165 at about 30mph. While back at the boat ramp to trailer it the temp went up to 199 said engine overheat.

Look at your impeller first

I just changed the impeller today then took it out on the water. Are you saying I should check it again?

We're pieces missing? If so, did you find all the parts

This boat only has 74 hours on it. It has been a nightmare since day one you probably wouldn’t even believe all the problems with this boat. I would really like to try and use it this season (PA). If there’s a way I can get those pieces out by flushing or something that would be great. Thank you

I would start by cleaning out the thermostat housing. You will probably find you pieces of the impeller in there.

pull vanity cover
remove throttle body
now you have access to the thermostat housing.
