I repowered with a Michigan motorz long block and the same United Marine 9362M, GM V8 HVS Distributor they use on there engine builds. Installed the distributor per VP on TDC -the rotor is directly pointing at the "8" marked on the distributor housing. Using Diacom software my cam retard angle is reading 60-61. Non adjustable as ECM sets timing based on several inputs. Software is read only. The VP workshop manual, EFI Diagnostic 7742218 is rather poor in covering removal and install and I find no spec on cam retard angle. From what I have read online it should be 45 degrees but also it is specific to the year of the motor. In this case 2003 with MEFI 4. Have I missed something basic? Not to assume related but I have fault code 41-EST Fault-EST A fault and 41 EST system has an open circuit. Input appreciated.
