I'm going to do my best to describe the situation.
Boat is a 2002 bowrider, with the 320 hp 5.7 VP Gxi engine

We were going about 20 mph and ran into some shallow water which stopped the boat fairly quicky, certainly not a devastating stop. Engine turned off, and the depth gauge showed 2.8 ft . ... I restarted the engine and idled back into the channel, we were back in 14 ft of water and it still felt like the lower unit was dragging on the bottom, but it wasnt. When I trimmed up to bring the rpms down the engine would almost cut out completely. The engine started emitting a constant beeping about 2 seconds apart. At this point I threw out the anchor and lifted the hatch, motor oil was at proper level, oil pressure was fine, engine temp was fine too. I turned the boat off and let it sit for a few minutes, then tried to restart it.... Starter got the boat running again but not before there was a clang whilst starting..... the boat then started and got us back to the dock.

I fired her up and rinsed the engine when I got home, it sounded fine while in my driveway.

I'm at a complete loss for what could be wrong. Outdrive looks fine from the outside.

Thoughts? Any help will be greatly appreciated.... this has been a bad month for engines in my household, my motorcycle engine popped on me this past week too.

Best,
W

Pull the plugs and see if you ingested any water by stopping so fast. It can happen

The beeping was the engine going into limp mode. Low oil pressure or overheating can cause this. Check the intake side of the cooling system. Could have sucked up some sand or mud and be clogged.

Thanks for the insight... I'm going to take the boat in for service once I get her all checked out. Thanks for the words
