Anyone know if there is cross reference for a coil (VP 3852217), I want to see if I can get one at NAPA, etc.

the fact that the boat is running indicates the coil is fine. a coil would not and can not limit your engine RPM

not getting up on plane is most likely fuel related. top of forum is a sticky called DIY. http://forums.iboats.com/forum/engi...68-must-have-technical-information-for-diyers

in there is a list of normal things that cause low WOT http://forums.iboats.com/forum/engi...ves/302506-list-of-possible-causes-of-low-wot Not a single one is the coil

now, what VP motor and drive are you running. be specific, provide year and all the numbers

carbed or EFI?

Did the boat run right after that replacement? And this is a new issue?

Ayuh,.... It could be the boat's side of the fuel system, the fuel pump, or the carb,....

Have ya inspected the contents of the fuel filter for anything but clean fresh gasoline,..??

Will check fuel system, put new filters on it. See what happens.

Was at the boat this weekend. Changed the fuel filters, checked that all plugs, wires, etc were all seating correct. Took it out, and still wont plane out at max throttle. Gets to about 3000 RPM and just dogs. Its quick to jump up to 3000 RPM, and starts to jump the boat out of the water, but just stops accelerating at 3000 RPM

Talked to the mechanic down there, he wants to check fuel pressure first, make sure that is good. I think thats a good starting point.

Other weekend warriors suggested new cap, rotor, and condenser, etc, but engines are not missing, sputtering, etc even up to the 3000 RPM.
