Volvo Penta lower gear ratio

Have a Volvo Penta 280 drive with a 1.89.1 gear ratio. On the older 270's in the E and T model I can get a 1.45.1 ratio. I need this ratio as I currently have the largest prop 16/23 long hub and am still underpropped due to the torque of the diesel. Will the older 270 E or T series bottom end fit on the 280 and if not can I take out only the bottom gears and would that work. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Volvo Penta lower gear ratio

1:89 gear ratio is only for 6cyl. gasoline engine ,oryginally used on inline 6 AQ170/165.
All lover units will fit intermediate unit, this very weekend I swapping aq250 lover to aq280 ,need long hub prop and more clearance (no exhaust port sticking on the way)
Yes torque of diesel and lover rpm need 1:45.
