Sorry about the limited information i gave, but thanks and even if the pinouts are different would you say in the last 20 years have the basic wire clors changed? I ask because my new motor harness obviously doesnt match the old invaders harness, the 5.7 GSi uses a round ten pin connection i feel i might have to be splicing into the existing one..

What was in the old invader originally? You asked originally what kind of connectors were used, now it what colors changed. Yes basic colors are PROBABLY the same over the past 20 years. But that info may not answer your question.
What are you trying to match up, and what's the full model number of the GSi. There should be letters after the GSi.
Plus the model number of what you had in the boat before.

No, I didn't give you anything, here is what I said.

I am assuming the 57FCPBYC should be 5.7GSPBYC as there was no such thing as FC.

I went back and looked at your engine again, and find it's a GSi engine, the i indicating it's injected, but it's not FC by any stretch of the imagination.

Anyway, here goes.
You will find the wiring diagram for your 271 here http://www.4shared.com/file/89797332/5d203ad5/AQ211_thru_572.html
The 10 pin round plug is shown as the connection from 1-8. Those numbers correspond to the the number on the round plug

Here is the manual that shows the wiring diagram for the 5.7GSi BY manual http://www.4shared.com/document/O12skSEb/7797452_BY_Elect_Ign.html

Since Volvo decided not to show the instrument harness in only a few models, here is the manual for one year newer that contains the inst panel wiring. A bit faded out, but usable, especially if you change the contrast in Photoshop ;) http://www.4shared.com/account/document/mfB3v1hu/3850077_WT_Elect_Ign_Fuel.html

Now if you go back and forth a few times till your head hurts you will see that the Green/Yellow wire is not needed. The brown/white wire is for the trim gauge sender not used by the 271, but the tan/black is needed for the ECM and goes to the alarm buzzer you will need for the GSi.

And my computer keeps trying to shut down because it did some auto updates, and I'm tired of clicking restart later.

For power to the ignition system, hook a jumper from the battery + terminal to the purple wire to the coil. Problem is, you can't get to it easily. so use the terminal with the purple wire on the back of the alternator, same wire. Disconnect to turn the engine off.

for start, just jump to the starter solenoids small terminal closest to the block, has a yellow wire with a red stripe.

Hook the positive battery terminal to the starter as normal and battery ground as normal

Yes, just make sure the engine is level, or slightly front high so you don't get air bubbles in the cooling system.

Will do! Just to make sure were on the same page,.. Connect battery to starter and ground, use a jumper on the starter solenoid, and give power to the purple wire on alternator for ignition sytem. Plus fuel and water?!
