Hi. Long time lurker and fresh member. Just purchased a 1999 Glastron GS185SF with Volvo 3.0 (30GSMWTR) with SX-M 1.97 drive unit. Boat is in great shape for a 10 year old boat with a new lower gear housing and prop (2 weeks old), but everything else looks original and like new. Claimed indoor storage always and "professional" winterizing done every year. It looks like it.
Seller claimed bellows were inspected and not touched during the lower gear housing swap which was due to hitting a rock and dent/damage resulting. Said no operation problems, but mechanic recommended changing it and insurance covered it for the price of the deductable, so he had it replaced.
I get the rough bearing sound while at lower throttle and not on plane and while turning. It goes nice and smooth while on plane and 3/4 throttle with trim right on the mark setting of the gauge. Sounds like classic Gimble bearing-Ujoint stuff, so the bearing, U-joints and bellows should be replaced. The bellows look like they are new, but I suppose that doesnt mean they dont leak.
What Volvo manual covers this motor-drive unit as I cant seem to find one on the Volvo Penta official website -powered by Iboats
Any help is appreciated.
