Volvo penta sx-a/dp-sa trim pump assembly

Vovlo says that you cannot replace the motor on the assembly for the trim pump. I have taken off the pump /motor and water was getting in because it's rusted. Is this normal? Does anyone know if I can order an aftermarket motor to replace this locked up motor and install on top of pump? Cannot find part numbers as vovlo doesn't want you to replace just the parts - assembly kit is $880-1200!

The red seal underneath the pump cover is what keeps the pump dry while it spends it life underwater. Great design I know. As of now, there are no aftermarket options.
