Hi Guys and Gals,
Ok finally got my Regal 240 Destiny out this weekend. I have had the engine out for since early last summer to to have the transom replaced. After I replaced the outdrive, and cranked it up, I noticed a squealing sound. ( the drive was in forward) I thought that it might be the prop rubbing against the housing. Not the case. (But that is pretty close to what it sounds like) I pulled the dipstick and the oil was milky so I found the shift seal was bad and replaced it. It only does it in forward. Quiet as a mouse in reverse, nor does it do it in neutral. It is constant and in about 45 min of running didn't seem to get any better or worse. It also will increase and the throtle and rpm increase. I am sure that a bearing has suffered from the water in the oil and the long time that it was sitting on it's side while I was doing the transom. Yes it was lying in it side the whole time. So I have the outdrive off now. What should I do, where should I look, What pitfalls do I need to avoid and how should I avoid them.
Thank you in advance for your help
Wendell
