Volvo Penta SX Power Steering

I have an '99 SX outdrive with a power steering leak. It appears to be leaking from around the cylinder ram. My Clymer manual says Volvo does not make repair parts and the entire unit must be replaced. Is this true? Has anyone had this same problem? Seen what a new unit cost...ouch. Anyone think a good industrial shop could find compatible seals and rebuild?

Ayuh,... If you tore it apart,+ mic'ed the parts needed,...
Baum Bearing,+ Iron Works,.. I think from Omaha, or near there,....
Probably has a listing for that seal, in atleast 3 different rubber compounds...
I use them alot,...
When Blaw-Knox wanted $70. for a set of seals on an old paver,...
Baum had 'em in several compounds for less than 10bucks a piece...

Another thought, for a Quicker Fix,... Search ebay or whereever for a Used unit....
