I recently bought a 1998 campion allante 625 with a 5.0 volvo penta gx motor and penta sx stern drive. When I picked up the boat the trim was lifted all the way up with no issues to maximize ground clearance on the trailer for transport. It's currently still on the trailer and now the trim won't go either way with the battery on. I changed the oil and filter a couple days ago and ran the motor with the tilt all the way up (in neutral with fresh water connected). Any ideas what might be causing the issue? I've checked the hydraulic fluid which is full and when I press the UP/DOWN buttons on the throttle lever there isn't any sound that comes from the hydraulic motor. I've also tried reseting the breakers with no result.

Running the engine with drive tilted all the way up is no good. Depending on where the limit is set due to boat design but I would imagine checking the u-joints would be a good idea now.

For the trim, disconnect the sensor cable (somewhere between transom and motor inside the boat) and see if you can then trim it down?

Use a voltmeter and see if you are getting power at the pump unit. I`m guessing its the switch on the throttle.

Thanks, I'll start there with the sensor.I'm new to boating and only realized after that running with the trim all the way up isn't good, so hopefully I haven't caused myself bigger issues..

When I Ran the engine I had it in neutral, Would this still be cause for concern with the u joints?

Easiest fix I could hope for! Thanks for the input guys, followed all the wires and tested the connections. Turned out it was a wire coupling that was partially disconnected! Works like a charm now! 🛥
