I am putting a Michigan Wheel Vortex prop on my boat. It is a three piece prop and hub assy. Do I not use the thrust washer and the spacer washer that goes behind the nut? I assume this because neither one will fit with the prop.
Also, when the prop is on the shaft, if I put the nut on then the prop is able to move for and back apx. 1/4 inch. Is this proper or did I get sold the wrong prop?

Thanx guys.

Re: Volvo Pents SX thrust washer?

I have done some pretty weird stuff trying to get a nut to fit on a prop that is too long for the shaft. Most importantly the prop needs to sit firmly and squarely on the forward thrust "bushing" as Volvo calls it. That's where all of the power is transmitted. However, you should not have any discernible movement fore and aft of the propeller on the shaft no matter what I was doing. If the shaft itself is moving in and out within the drive, then you have bigger issues, although I am sure there is some allowed movement (need spec), 1/4 inch sounds way high.
