I am finally getting my boat together after buying it with a dissassembled motor and blown trimline. Two questions:
1. The "up" trim line that ran from the trim pump to the manifold was ruptured right at the fitting on the manifold side, that was a pain to change. Is this a common or should I suspect a problem? Is there some sort of pressure cut out or bypass when the outdrive reaches the full up position to keep the system from building too much pressure?
2. I bought a crate engine that came equipped with a distributor from an individual that was brand new, not a rebuild. Should I assume that the timing was set from the factory? I know to set the timing I need to rotate the engine to TDC on the #1 cyl and install the distributor so the rotor is pointing to the #1 terminal, but how do I know which terminal is the #1??? There is no mark on the distributor cap. My guess is I dont need to go thru all that but I still need to know which plug wire goes to which cylinder. Please help!! Thanks
