So I have a 1979 volvo 350 in a 79 albemarle. It's done!

I was just offered a mercuiser 350 from a friend for a very good price, free!

I need to go over and see the engine and find out the details, but what if any problems will I have?

I know Im jumping the gun by asking questions without seeing the motor and knowing the year.

My assumtion is that any year volvo and any year merc can be interchanged with the appropriate couplers and risers. Is that correct?

Thanks Eric

Yes, that is correct. Just be sure to throw in a section of "With enough money, you can do anything."

Is this Merc engine a new style block or an old style like your Volvo?

Ayuh,.... That would be correct, Only in the Vaguest of terms...

The only thing they share is a Chevy heritage...

The long block is the same except if they are different generations. Like Don said, you need to know the year of the new block. I think 1986 was the change over, but you never know what you'll find in a boat.

Merc serial numbers or block casting numbers would tell.
