Sorry I know this question has been answered before. I am new to the forum and have to replace my cylinder seals to get my dad out fishing. He just turned 93. I have a Dp-sm 3868914 year 2000 drive . Both seals are leaking

Re: volvo trim seal numbers

There are a couple people selling some kits on Ebay that have been updated to solve the issue with the chronically failing rod seal in those SX-M cylinders.

I think the seals you are talking about though are for the old Cobra cylinders which do not last very long after being repaired and start to leak again.

You need to post the numbers off the ID plate that are on your drive.
I "think" that 98 or so was the last year for Cobras, but I am not positive. My '99 is the VP SX non-cobra version.

Re: volvo trim seal numbers

I can't find the "TSK" version of the SX M on the VP website.
However, it looks like most SX-M's have the non-rebuildable trim cylinders.
You may have to pursue the ebay kit mentioned above, unless you wish to shell out about $400 per cylinder.

I was able to find out that the "TSK" refers to some extra relays that are part of the transom shield.
You might want to give VP a call themselves since their info is hard to find on their website.

Hopefully others will chime in.

Re: volvo trim seal numbers

I've tried to do a bit of research on rebuilding mine with the ebay kits and/or OMC kits "if" they have compatible seals.
What I have found is putting them back together may be very tricky, as it's not just sliding them apart and throwing
some seals/o-rings back in.

If you take them completely apart without a rebuild kit on hand to re-assemble, don't expect to find an easy fix.

You might want to just contact the guy on ebay that sells the kits; they're only $150, and that will redo both cylinders.....
otherwise you're probably looking at $800 for new ones, or trying to find used ones that don't leak (good luck...)

Re: volvo trim seal numbers

The ones on Ebay are totally different than the OEM items. The rods seals in the Ebay kit are double acting poly hydraulic seal and the problematic piston rings that are a PITA have been changed to a one piece poly in the Ebay kits.

Go to the ad and email him direct and he will send out the instructions for rebuilding the cylinders. All of the SX and DPS cylinders are rebuild-able with his kit.
