If you are a vonage customer, be careful when you attempt to leave. They will jack you up.

I put in a request to change to SBC on 1/23 and vonage gave a release date of 1/31 for the changeover. On 2/1 SBC called to say vonage was having 'trouble' processing my request due to high volume.

I sent vonage an email through their contact system, advising them that my billing cycle was 2/7 and I wanted my service disconnected before the new bill. They then sent SBC a release date of 2/1.

So, 2/1 rolls around, SBC connects my line, vonage processes my bill. I call vonage to cancel and am told there is a $42 disconnect fee and no, they are not going to take out the monthly charge from 2/1. They are charging me approximately $75 dollars to leave their service.

Take it for what it is worth, I would not recommend their service to my worst enemy at this point.

due to experiance with sbc I couldn't go the way you did but other than leaving how is vonage? I was contemplating it. my small phone company keeps raising rates soon will be as expensive as sbc.

Re: Vonage(rant/warning)

Badandy, up until today, I would have recommended them.

They make it more than difficult to cancel their service. Since they bill by CC, I am turning all my documentation over to the CC company. I dont really object to the termination fee, it is in their user agreement. I am torqued off about the additional month of service that I specifically told them I didnt want.

Twidget, thanx for the information. look on the bright side the cc company has lawyers and such to fight it. I understand why you would be mad abaout an extra months service charge.
