vovlo penta stalls

i have been trying to fix problen for over a year. I have a volvo penta 5.7 gsi wt duoprop. when warm at idel speed in gear or not it will whine then stall. so far i have replaced both high + low fuel pumps , both fuel filters , new check valve at fuel tank , fuel lines up to low pres.pump. I had a full tune up, replaced all fluids. checked for water in gas . runs great at higher speed.

Sounds like you have done a lot of parts replacing, have you done any troubleshooting? Like fuel pressure checks, did you check to see if you had water in your fuel filter? Have you hooked it up to a diagnostic computer? done any vacuum checks, compression checks etc?
Do you have the OEM service manuals?

ok, this is why it is so frustrating. I do have a very good mechanic who worked for volvo troubleshooting for 20 years he has hooked it to his computer and it shows no faults. he has checked vacuum and compression all look good.He has installed clear tubing to the fuel to look air in the line, it also looks good.no water in fuel filter also we removed the suction tube from the fuel tank to look for an air leak. the tube had no leak while we had the tank open. he put some gel on a stick to reach the bottom of the tank, if there is water it will change color - no water.I am wondering if it could be something electrical. The next move is for him to go with me on the water because it will not do it at the slip. he will put his gauges on and clear tubing to look for air in the fuel. we thought we had it, but when i was pulling my crab pots it did it again.low speed going pot to pot and neutral when pulling then you hear the whine. my gph meter will spike up to 24 gph then stall. turn the key it will start right up

That's the kind of information that is helpful, not just a list of changed parts.
It may not be air getting into the fuel system, could be debris in the tank and after running for a while the screen on the fuel pickup tube is plugging up after a while. Then after it dies, the debris falls off the screen after the vacum drops off.

I would guess these are the tests he will be doing.

I thought you would like my responce. I was hoping to here something he might be over looking. Maybe it is debris in the fuel tank. Thats already been mentioned . But i would think the eng would stall at higher rpm. Thank you so much for your input. We will keep looking.
