Sunday afternoon armchair Googling and not finding much help - VP 290 DP Transom shield removal.

I recently came upon a VP DP-a complete outdrive (Transom shield to props) to replace my beat up 290DP.

I am hanging this onto a 1981 Albemarle 247. I think I already know the answer but has anyone been able to remove the transom shield from the Y pipe exhaust without pulling the motor?

TYIA,
Rick

Not a physical chance in he# that you can pull the y-pipe without pulling the motor. Its a 30 minute job to pull the drive then pull the motor

its a good idea to pull your motor anyway, you may need to replace the engine mounts or other items. the AQ series of motors and drives are the easiest to pull and align of any I/O design. you have to literally pull have the motor anyway to remove the transom shield. i am referring to the donut clamp.

why not undo the 4 exhaust clamps, fuel line, unplug the motor, disconnect the throttle cable, undo the 2 motor mounts and lift at that point.

if you find that you need a few odd parts during your swap, PM me, I may know where some are as I have en-massed a bit of parts and the knowledge where a bunch of AQ parts are.
