Hello all. I have a 1995 VP 5.0 Fi. It has been running fine. Now have a new problem.
Motor starts and will run for about 15-20 seconds, while ideling, has a small surge, about 100 rpm and shuts off.
Will start back up, and if you try to put in gear will go forward (or back ward) at very low throttle for less than 30 seconds, then will have a small surge, and shut down.
Will start back up, and idle, if try to put in gear will accelerate for a few seconds, have a much larger surge in RPMs, and shut down.
I have been hearing a "squeeling" sound on start up which i think is belt slip, but the squeel has beeen more pronounced in the few days leading up to my most recent problem.
*****
My thoughts are the squeeling is the alternator belt and or alternator itself. Seems to be not charging the batteries as well as it should. Could a bad alternator and/or weak batteries cause the problems described?
Any other thoughts? I do not have a code reader. Pulled fuel water seperator and there is no water in fuel. Fuel is ethanol free.
Thanks Ed
