Hello all,

The season before last I had the gimbal bearing replaced in my '06 FW Horizon H210 as it was grinding whenever I turned right or left. I also had the trim pump replaced at the same time as one of the lines was leaking.

When I got the boat back, both the grinding and trim pump issues were resolved, but I began to notice that if I had the trim anywhere above full down the boat would shake. The amount of shaking depending on my speed and how much I had it trimmed, but this was new for my setup. Before having this work done, I could move through the whole allowable trim range while underway and not have any noticeable shaking. I have read through a number of posts that suggest U-joint issues, which is possible.

My question first would be, is it possible that something is out of alignment that might be fixed with a few adjustments? It almost seems like they didn't set it up properly when the put the trim pump/outdrive back together.

Something is wrong and needs to be checked out. I would contact the folks who did the work

Could be bearing was not installed correctly, U joints or coupler. The U joint should have been checked during bearing replacement, along with alignment

Thanks alldodge. Unfortunately going back to where it was repaired is not an option. You helped me w/ an issue last summer that they completely messed up and missed so I have no trust in them. Also, in this day and age of COVID, you can't get in to a marine mechanic in my area for months (I do have an appointment for a few months from now in case I can't get any resolution between now and then).

That said, I have read that signs of a bad U-joint or gimbal bearing are noticed mostly while turning. This seems to happen when I am going straight ahead, but only when trimmed up any amount. Is there an alignment that has to happen after replacing that equipment? What about after replacing the trim pump? I guess what I'm really asking is can I check anything on my own without tearing the whole outdrive off?

Don't see the trim pump making the drive shake. Its just a hydraulic pump.

With it on the trailer, put muffs on and run it in gear and watch as its trimmed up and down.

If nothing is seen, I would take the drive off
