I am doing some maintenance on it due to several screwups, only some of which were mine! The Heat exchanger plastic strainer housing where you add water or clean the screen had a small crack in the connector elbow that connects to the copper water pipe (by a previous mechanic I no longer use). Found another strainer housing and installed it using all the same rubber washers since they all looked good and felt pliable. Now the housing is leaking at the bottom joint where it sits on the heat exchanger as well as on one of the openings on the bottom of the h/e where it joins the fresh water tank. I suspect the rubber gaskets are at fault.
Is there any technique to mounting this unit that I don't know, since I have taken it off before and never had this issue with leaks? I have taken it off twice now trying to get it to fit without leaks. Is it sensitive to how much you tighten up the connectors? If too tight does it cruch the sealing rings/rubber washers?
Is there any way to fix the leaks without finding the new gaskets/rubber washers? Any item I need for this volvo engine is by internet or phone order since nobody anywhere close to me carries any volvo parts.
Here's a link to a diagram of the parts in question.

these are the parts-
#10 (two )
#16
#26 (two)
These joints are where the leaks are occurring.
If any of the members here who are bayliner mechanics have these parts I would be glad to give you the business. Thanks for the help,
Joe
