With the help of capt mello giving me advice, i was able to get the engine started and idling for 15 minutes before I turned it off satisfied that I had accomplised what I set out to do, get it running, and it did. Perfectly idled at 950rpm. however, there are so many things that have to be done to make this boat long term worthy its just not worth it. The motor and drive and the other accessory parts and switches etc are all operational, but theres a lot more than that with this boat. the floor is completey rotten and I just dont think i want to invest the time. well after some serious thought I think Im going to part out the 1989 Baretta with the VP AQ131C and 290 drive. Wish me luck selling it.

Nothing wrong with knowing when a project is "just not worth it" Most boat restorations are not worth it, but rather personal challenges and a fun way to pass the time. Rarely are they going to be financially smart choice as the boats are never worth the time and money required to finish. maybe put your part out money toward something needing much less work.

Good Luck!
