I have a Model Year 2006 Volvo Penta 8.1GI with internal engine damage. Engine is mated to a Volvo Penta DPS-A outdrive. I am looking for workshop manual/procedure for removing and installing the engine. I have numerous manuals that I have found online but none of them show the procedure for R&R engine.

From the looks of it; disconnect fuel line, main electrical harness connector, battery positive and negative cables, exhaust boots and motor mounts. Not sure where to lift the engine from and if the outdrive needs to be removed?

Always remove the drive first.
Leave the mounts bolted to the block remove the lag bolts in the engine stringers.
When the engine is out, make sure to inspect the transom mount for corrosion, leaks, etc, look closely at the P/S actuator, they are known to leak and fail, also look at the bottom of the Y pipe, they can corroded and leak from the very bottom. Check the engine mount stringers, if they are cored with wood make sure they are not rotted, if so that has to be fixed before installing a new engine. Remember you must align the engine after installing with an alignment tool. I'd also look closely at the engine coupler, make sure the splines are in good shape nice and squared off, not pointed, if in doubt replace it.
