Recently disconnected vro but notice a sound fron engine that resembles somebody gasping for breath. Like sucking air. Is this common or is their a leak in the oil hose to the vro. Any help is appreciated

1989 Evinrude 40hp-E40tecec--Capped oil line- disconnected 3 wire plug-everything fine except for sucking or gassping noises

thanks again. the pulse line is that the small one quarter line at the very bottom. It is so tight down there it is almost impossible to work on. At first I saw a disconnected line at the bottom and it was tied into the bottom of the crackcase and the other end was loose so the only place i saw where it might go was on the back of the cover for the carbs. There was a small port there and the line fit so tried that and no noise but the next time out same thing- liking sucking air

Re: vro-help

Is the air box on over the carb's ??

Yes the air box is on and the quarter in line going from bottom of motor is currently tied into a small port on the back of the airbox with a small hole through it
