VRO hose size

Getting ready for ice off, and was preparing the boat (16 ft. Lowe with 70 horse Johnson). When checking the oil tank, I noticed a leak at the bulb. When I remove it, it appears that someone may have replaced the bulb with a 5/16 bulb. The id. of the line measures 1/4 id. Also the line is vinyl and seems somewhat hard. Should I replace the bulb with a 1/4 in. fitting and should I also replace the line.

Thanks, Steve

Replace it all with the proper stuff----The outcome of leaks in the oil line can cost big $$$$

Thanks Racerone, Another question is the short hose leading to the tank is also very hard. Is there a way to replace it without replace the guts of the tank?

Re: VRO hose size

The VRO system uses a special oil hose, which is a 1/4" diameter. The oil hose from Bombardier will have a yellow stripe along it-identifying it as oil line. The squeeze bulb is also 1/4" and is made/packaged specifically for use with oiling systems. Oil tank primer bulb: P/N 5008620. Oil line supply hose: P/N 778707 (yellow stripe) Sold by the foot at the dealer.

I wouldn't worry about the short one going into the tank unless you want to take the tank apart.
