VRO Leaking Fuel

I replaced some fuel lines and a fuel filter on my 1991 Johnson 90hp VRO. I primed the system and as I was doing so I noticed fuel leaking from the two halves of the fuel side of the VRO pump. I took the VRO apart and can see no obivious reason for failure. Is there supposed to be a gasket or o-ring between the two halves of the fuel pump because I did not have one. The fuel diaphram has some cracking on the underside of the "skirt" but has not broken through. Can I rebuild the VRO or is it time to convert to premix? What is most cost effective? If I convert, what is the part number for a standard fuel pump?

Personal choice on the repair. If you can't seal the original one then you can either replace with an OMS pump but it is pricey and keep the oil tank. This version mixes constantly at 50 to 1 ratio unlike the VRO (variable ratio) Other option is a standard pump and pre mix the fuel. Here is a link to when I did mine on a 1985 140hp looper.

How should the original VRO be sealed? Gasket? O-ring?
