I am trying to take a proactive approach to maintaining my engine here in paradise, especially with the lead time for parts delivery, and I would like to know if there is anything I need to do to my VRO system as far as maintenance goes. This is a little embarassing but I have never trusted these things, especially since mine does not "sound off" when cranking to let me know that the buzzer at least works. I am having problems with my fuel bulb and I assume the oil bulb is the same age. I am going to replace it when I replace the fuel bulb but is there anything else I need to do? How can I ascertain if the warning buzzer is working and if not what typically can go wrong with them? All of the VRO engines that I have ever had any experience with sound off when they are cranking but this one has never done so. It runs perfect when it isn't starved for fuel so I know it is oiling but I don't know how I would know if it wasn't doing so properly. Ahhhhh..I can only dream of the day when I am wealthy enough to buy a pair (or even more!!!) of these new fangled 4 Strokes!!!!

Re: VRO maintenance

Just have as a rule that whenever you fill gas, check the oil level in the tank. It will consume in average around 2% oil!
Tape a piece of measurement tape on the tank and it is easier to follow. Run the tank as low as possible when season ends, empty it foe oil and clean the screen/filter at the bottom of the pick-up.
Start the season with fresh oil and you are good to go!
And fix your horn, it should make a beep every time you put ignition ON.
