Does anybody know what the actual variable rates are. Just read a guys post from 2001 that says all new ones are 50:1 at all times. I have a 1991 225 evinrude.
elwilliams,If you want a more accurate answer just do some careful measuring of the oil volume verses fuel volume expended after a days use at varying throttle rates and do the math.Thyere would be several factors that could effect the exact ratio of any given VRO to include diaphragm, any air leaks in system, age and condition of VRO pump etc..
There was a good article about the VRO a few years ago in Bass and Walleye magazine. They say the new style ones are called OMS pumps (from 1992 on up) and they oil at 75:1 at idle and 50:1 wide open. The average boater will "see" around 60:1 depending on his use.
