i have an 87 evinrude 70 hp. i have had many problems from no spark to repacing fuel lines. i beleive i have everything fixed but now i have fuel leaking from the vro pump. it leaks fuel from the top of the back cover that bolts to the pump. i pulled this cover off and there is a tear drop shaped o ring inside but it seems to be in good shape. when ever i pump the primer bulb it leaks fuel. i cant find any one that sels the o ring. everyone only sells the complete pump for about $400. has any one else had this problem and how did you fix it. i dont want to get rid of the oil injection because quiet honestly im 2 lazy 2 mix the oil and fuel. also do o rings shrink? it seems 2 be a little small for the housing that it is in. the o ring is still soft and plyable it just doesnt seem to fill the housing. please help

Re: VRO pump leaking

The fuel is leaking through a faulty oil outlet check valve that is press into the plastic body. On units that old it is very possible to have a small crack in that are. A new pump assembly is your only fix or hook up and replumb with 1983 70hp parts with a standard pump, but then you'll have to premix.

Re: VRO pump leaking

Personally I would not mess around with a VRO pump other than re-building the fuel side. New pump or change out to a pre-mix pump.
