I am geting ready to tackle rebuilding my Carbs on my gt 150 1989 model Since most guys are saying my problem I been having is from the boat sitting for 6 months And dies when I pust the throttle down but run fine if I choke as pushing the throttle. This engine has had the VRO disconnected for several years and I mix my oil.My question....Do they have a conventional fuel pump to replace the Old VRO pump and what the OMC part # is in case my problem is in the fuel Pump..and not carbs

Re: VRO pump

Hey puffen.....99% of the time when ya' gotta punch the choke to get going or to stay going, it's in the carbs. Gum, dirt, whatever...clean out the carbs.

There is a replacement pump for the VRO pump that is just set up for gas. Can't recall the price but it fits in where the VRO pump goes. If the carb cleaning/rebuild proves to be good, ya' may not need to replace the old pump. Go one step at a time. It's winter.....OH Yeah....you live in Florida..... :) Anyway...rebuild the carbs and see what she does. Keep us posted.... :)

Re: VRO pump

Hey Puffen...the other thing you might want to give a once over in addition to the carbs, is the fuel line connections. If a clamp has come loose and there is an air leak, it can cause the hesitation/stalling problem.

Having said that, like OBJ said...99% of the time it is something to do with the carbs.

Good Luck!

Sorry Puffen....no sympathy here. Although we've since come out of our deep freeze, including the wind chill, it was a balmy -47 fahrenheit here last Thursday,

30 is t-shirt weather!!

Cheers,

Brew
