Re: vs200 -2172 clinton motor need hp, year
Clinton numbers usually begin with A,B,J or K followed by 200,300,350 etc.
I suspect that VS200 may be the actual model or type for the powerhead.
Clinton has been out of business for some time possibly the early 80s.
They are all very similar in design and date back to about 1957.
These motors are a comprimise at best using an aircooled powerhead with a water cooled exhaust leg.Parts and info may be available from CEPCO at
563-652-2411.you will probably have to leave a message.
They are noisy, vibrate are somewhat under powered and not the most reliable.A cheap way to get into boating but probably not the best way.
I wouldn't spend huge amounts of time or money unless you just love to tinker.Depending on model they use J12Y,J13Y or CJ8 plugs set at .025.Points if used set at .020.16:1 fuel mix on 4.48 and 5.76 cu.in.motors,48:1 on others.
use TCW3 oil or other TCW rated oil.
