VSR-A/B switch issues

In the process of installing the batteries into my `08 Chaparral 264 Sunesta, I inadvertently crossed polarity for a split second and now my A/B switch does not function in the Off position.

My boat has two sets of dual batteries. Two for the engine compartment, starter and deep cycle. I also have two deep cycles wired in parallel that power the onboard electric grill via an inverter. The engine compartment batteries were installed, no problem. while installing the grill batteries, I momentarily reversed polarity by touching a pos cable to neg terminal, just for a second. Since then my VSR switch has a red led illuminated and my A/B switch has no Off function. Everything is hot all the time. All systems work as they should, engine, accessories, grill. I just cannot shut off power.

Any suggestion on what has happened and what the fix is. Thanks.

Sounds like you blew the VSR and it's now shorted. How do you have it wired?

Normally the VSR would just be connected from the alternator to each battery. If it shorted then the batteries will be connected with the ALT without the motor running. The VSR should not have an issue with the Bat switch because it should not be connected to it. The Bat switch being unable to turn the power off leans me to think something is wired wrong, and was probably done with the grill wiring

Everything worked properly for years prior to the short. The VSR and the AB switch are housed next to each other in the same panel. I am going to pull the panel and get behind the switches and look for obvious damage. I just hate electrical problems.

VSRs should be connected between 2 batteries. With 2 sets of batteries you only need one. If the VSR is wired correctly, it has nothing to do with the on/off switch
