I just bought a boat with a 50 hp Mercury serial #4285958 and need to know what year model it is. any help would be appreciated.

It is a 1975 year and a model 500 4 cyl.

That Merc. chart seems to be incomplete, I have a merc 50 Ser. no 7022684 I would like to know the age of this one? uns like new

most charts dont have canadian made serials included i have a 1977 merc 850 with a serial 7200011 and its a 1977 i would think yours also is a 1977

Yes...that sounds about right...late 70's at best.<br /><br />Being from Canada....I see a whole whack of 7 series <br /><br />TMD
